Structural steel / wood projects
  • What affects the cost of a structural steel work?
The weight of the material (structural steel), toppings and facings (roof, perimeter walls, floors), the work of steel member shaping (standardization, member connections), fire protection, corrosion protection, transporting and lifting.
  • To what extent should be considered a structural steel design?
A structural steel project, apart from the general assembly of steel members, should have all the details that define it (i.e. connections, bases, anchors, support of toppings etc). The workshop prefabrication will design, based on these, all individual members to cut and shaped.
  • To what extent should be given a structural wood design?
A structural wood work is very similar in design with a steel one. But for the wooden there are no specialized workshops, so there must be detailed drawing to cut and shape wooden members. Also, the protection of wood is much more complex than that of steel and must be given clear instructions.
  • I want to build a steel loft in my store, should I entrust it to a blacksmith?
The result will be, certainty, that it will cost much more and technically, at best, lacking in quality (if not dangerous). In each case the cost of a design will be absorbed by the construction cost and the result will be according to customer specifications and standards.
